- Version 3.01
-
-
- Here are some of the new features found in BATTLE FLEET Version 3.01 --
-
-
- General...
-
- 1. The program now requires less disk space than earlier versions - 260,000
- bytes as opposed to 350,000 bytes.
-
- 2. Previous versions required 3 files on the disk, BATLSHIP.EXE, BATLCOMM.EXE
- and BATLCALL.DIR. Version 3.01 requires only 2 files, BATLSHIP.EXE and
- BATLCALL.DIR. BATLSHIP.EXE is the main program file and BATLCALL.DIR is
- the dialing directory used when playing over a modem.
-
- Your opponents and phone numbers are stored in the BATLCALL.DIR file.
- If you created a dialing directory from a previous version of BATTLE
- FLEET, you can use the same directory by simply copying BATLCALL.DIR over
- to the new program disk.
-
- 3. Version 3.01 now uses a pink high-light square for selecting your shots.
- Simply use the arrow keys on the keyboard to position the high-light
- square and press the space bar. Your shot will then automatically be
- entered and made. As in earlier versions, your shot can be called out
- with a LETTER/NUMBER combination such as B6.
-
-
- Playing Against The Computer...
-
- 1. Unlike earlier versions, there is no skill level. The program now allows
- the computer to think as a human opponent in determining where ships are
- located and how they are positioned.
-
- 2. The computer will now calculate and call its shots much faster than in
- previous versions. (With the sound off, play is almost immediate!)
-
-
- Playing By Modem...
-
- 1. A "CHAT" mode has been added to enable you to type messages to your op-
- ponent during play.
-
- 2. Two computers can now be linked together through a null modem allowing
- BATTLE FLEET(c) to be played in the same room without the use of 2 tele-
- phone lines.
-
-
- Please read the file BATLSHIP.DOC for more detailed explanations on these and
- other features of BATTLE FLEET(c) Version 3.01. - June 15, 1991
